SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE
No visit to Sydney is complete without seeing the Sydney Opera House, one of the most recognisable buildings in the world and a defining symbol of Australian culture. Designed by Danish architect Jorn Utzon and opened in 1973, the building is celebrated for its sail-shaped roof shells set against Sydney Harbour, and it was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2007 in recognition of its architectural significance. The Sydney Opera House hosts thousands of performances each year across opera, theatre, dance and music, and it remains one of the busiest and most admired performing arts centres in the world.

Beyond the Meeting venue, Sydney's eastern and northern beaches offer some of the city's most rewarding day trips. The destinations below are easily reached by public transport and make an excellent way to spend a free morning or afternoon during IFFAS 2028.
Bondi Beach and Icebergs
Bondi Beach is Australia's best-known stretch of sand, prized for its surf, golden sand and lively cafe culture. At its southern end sits the Bondi Icebergs Club, a heated ocean pool perched above the surf and one of the most photographed swimming spots in the country.
Bondi to Coogee Coastal Walk
This six-kilometre clifftop path links Bondi Beach to Coogee Beach, taking in Tamarama, Bronte and Clovelly along the way. The walk takes approximately two hours at an easy pace and offers some of Sydney's finest ocean views, along with plenty of spots to stop for a swim or a coffee.
Manly
A short ferry ride from Circular Quay, Manly combines a wide ocean beach with a relaxed village atmosphere. The ferry crossing itself, which passes the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge before heading out through Sydney Heads, is considered one of the most scenic short journeys in the world.
